Madonna vs Lady Gaga, what?!
The Madonna vs Lady Gaga spat that has currently hit the news is quite shocking; there have been countless rumours and speculation that Gaga may have possibly ripped off of Madonna's 'Express Yourself', although, I personally can't see any correlation except for the fact that they are semi-similar in terms of what they are trying to symbolise.
Madonna and Gaga have passed comments off to each other in regards to the feud that has hit the storm; Madonna referred to Gaga's song as 'reductive' which I find extremely condescending. I love them both, I like their style and their music, however, I am finding Madonna's attitude slightly distasteful. Gaga's response to Madonna was 'she has been a massive influence on me.' Then at a later date, in an interview, Gaga then said that she 'doesn't really care' - fair play! Madonna, however, took it to another level by adding in her own mash up of Born This Way (Lady Gaga) and her own hit Express Yourself. After the little mash up, she then continues dancing and sings 'she is not me'. I have posted a YouTube link of what I am speaking of, just so that it has context :)
It's painfully obvious, Madonna, that Lady Gaga has stated she doesn't care how you feel towards her, despite the many compliments she has given you. Gaga also stated that 'Madonna has her own throne, I don't want it, I have my own', the reason why I made this blog post is because I feel that Madonna, having the influence that she has made over the years, has possibly pressured her fans into making a choice between her and Gaga, of course, she cannot force them what they want to listen to. At this point in time; I love both of their music but I am deeply in love with Gaga's down-to-Earth attitude and fan dedication that she promotes.
