Hello all!
So this has been a very long thing coming! Britain has finally moved another step out of this socially segregated era by allowing the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) community to allow marriage. According to my source, there are certain conditions that have to follow this and the most obvious one is that the church must agree with the principles about gay marriage, and the minister of that church must agree to it too. According to popular beliefs, they say "It is expected that the first gay and lesbian wedding ceremonies will take place by summer next year." Which I hope is true, and I hope thousands of more gay couples come forward and take their place in the 21st century by being the first load of couples to marry the same sex!
This means that people with the traditional ideology that marriage should be kept between a man a woman now need to adapt those beliefs with this new act. Yes, it is now an act!! It was sent to the Queen for royal assent on July 17th 2013 and was immediately passed through. This may also give people who are battling with their sexuality the confidence to finally 'come out' because the passing of this bill will not only tell youths but other members of the EU and other countries that the United Kingdom is truly 'united' and it doesn't disregard race, gender or sexuality. What could possibly be the next step for Britain's diversity-related laws?
Some facts:
Alan Whitehead, Labour MP for Southampton voted strongly for equal gay rights.
John Denham, Labour MP for Southampton, Itchen, voted Moderately for gay rights.
Not only did we have the support for this bill (act now) by our teachers, parents (possibly) and friends but we also had people in parliament that voted for our cause to have equal rights in marriage! And people have the audacity to say that the government is 'useless', what a load of crud. Keep it up everyone that supported this bill all the way through to the act.
