Nepal to Everest - tragedy strikes again.

Hello readers,

Today doesn't bring no ease to write this blog post, however, if you aren't someone that watches the news, reads the papers or has Facebook then it's my duty to write about it to make you aware of what has happened.

Last night there was a devastating earthquake in Nepal. The death toll is currently sitting at around 1,000 people, now 1,800 people as I am writing this and many more to be found, it's sad but it also makes you reflect on some of the things that you do in life and how blessed we are to not be struck by such tragedy, my thoughts go to their families, friends and the country.

The earthquake was a staggering 7.8 in magnitude. The magnitude was so strong that it caused an avalanche on Mt. Everest causing 17 more people to die due to this.

What does it feel like?
"The large quakes at 6's or 7's, well... ever been standing on a bus when it starts to move? You get that swaying sensation as it moves and you almost fall over? It's like that. I remember during the Northridge quake standing in a doorway and having to hold on to keep from getting knocked off my feet. Cupboard doors were swinging open and shut. I watched across the room as belongings tumbled off shelves... no that's not quite right. My stuff stayed still. It was the shelves on the wall that were pulled suddenly out from underneath, leaving things in mid-air. I also remember it was *loud*. A rumble, sure, but mostly the crashing of things falling. I was convinced my downstairs was trashed - and puzzled to find only light breakage." - Quote from a user on Yahoo Questions

Whilst 'swaying on bus' may seem extremely minimal, one thing we cannot predict is how our structures and buildings will hold up against this casual 'swaying', which in Nepal, has caused thousands of deaths. As I said previous, best wishes.
